The Development Intern will support Chicken & Egg Films’ fundraising efforts across individual, institutional, and corporate giving. This role offers hands-on exposure to nonprofit development, including donor research, grant writing, events, and CRM systems such as Salesforce. The intern – managed by the Development Assistant – will work closely with the Development team and gain insight into how a mission-driven organization builds and sustains relationships with funders and partners.

Chicken & Egg Films is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that champions women and gender-expansive documentary filmmakers around the globe with funding, mentorship, and access so they can tell stories that ignite change. Please note: Chicken & Egg Films is not a production company. This is a dedicated nonprofit fundraising role that is not structured as a pathway into documentary program work.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct prospect research on foundations, corporations, and individual donors to support fundraising strategy
  • Support the maintenance and accuracy of donor records in Salesforce (CRM) and Google Drive
  • Prepare briefing materials and donor profiles for meetings and events
  • Assist in drafting and editing grant proposals, reports, and donor communications
  • Track grant deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
  • Assist with donor stewardship efforts, including acknowledgements and outreach
  • Support planning and execution of fundraising events and cultivation opportunities
  • Contribute to special projects and cross-team initiatives as needed

This position may be asked to provide other administrative support in service of the Development department.

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Exercises a high degree of confidentiality and discretion
  • Interest in documentary film, media, or gender equity

Bonuses

  • Prior internship or volunteer experience in nonprofit fundraising or events
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems
  • Familiarity with Asana or other project management tools

What Else You Should Know 

Internship Period: June-August 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Time Commitment: Approximately 16-24 hours per week. The exact number of hours per week will vary and a flexible schedule is possible.  

Compensation: The compensation for this role is $18 per hour. This is a non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime. This temporary position is not eligible for benefits except those mandated by law.

Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. First round interviews will take place in early May.

Location and Hybrid Work Policy: This position is based in NYC. We have a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of two days a week in our Brooklyn office for full-time staff.
